Can you believe it? We are already in the month of April! April: the month known for April Fool’s Day; April showers; and the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
April Fool’s Day can cause one’s head to spin when striving to determine how it got started. If one begins to do research on the origin of this day the theories, hypothesis, arguments that include changes to the calendar, writing by Chaucer (a 14th century author), and notorious pranks or ploys that tricked others in the 15th and 16th centuries will leave a person chasing their tail in an effort to formulate a sound theory as to how it began. Perhaps the best April Fool’s joke is having someone chase their tale trying to explain to others how this day got started? However, as I think of hoaxes played, of people being so sure something was afoot only to be ridiculed with the words “April Fool!” my mind turns to the significant day celebrated in April of this year: Easter, when we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. On the day that Christ died, I think that Satan and his minions threw a big party and celebrated that they had managed to kill the Son of God. Three days later, the stone was moved and Jesus demonstrated that death and the grave had no power or hold on Him whatsoever. I like to think that Jesus had a sense of humor because it shows in the story of His life. Thinking of His sense of humor, I don’t find it so farfetched that He would tell the devil: “You thought you had me beat but the joke is on you. You are a fool for thinking you could defeat me.” Perhaps Satan is the original April Fool? When thinking of the significant day we celebrate this month, meaning Easter Sunday, the day Jesus rose from the dead and the significance of His defeating the grave, I think of celestial showers. April showers from heaven. When through His conquering death, Christ showers all who proclaim Him Lord and Savior with forgiveness, love, a new life, a celestial purpose, and the promise of an incorruptible eternal inheritance of heavenly design. May Christ shower you with countless blessings this month and may you in turn share April showers of blessing with others. Vic Comments are closed.
