Our current situation has many of us with an ear tuned to the latest bit of news regarding covid-19. We are listening for changes to our daily schedule, new medications that are being tested, plans for our economic standing, and seeking assurances that our basic necessities will be met. Our realities are varied, some of us are blessed and have supplies, some of us are looking at cupboards low on food and have been laid off from work
Two terms that have been resonating on the daily news updates are hope and false hope. There is a recognition that at a time like this there is a yearning for hope and there . Yet, experts, while acknowledging the need for hope, warn against false hope. Hope and false hope. In the Bible these can be classified as a hope that is alive and a hope that only leads to doom. There is only one hope that is living and eternal. In Hebrews 6:17-20 we are told: [So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of His purpose, He guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedeck.] We may feel like things are closing in on us. However, the only true hope is Jesus Christ. Let us now allow our fears and anxieties cause us to let go of that hope. Hang in there. Blessing, Vic Comments are closed.
